His Brother Died-He Took Action

Ian Johnston is a fairly normal teenager. He's tall, lanky, likes his music and his phone. He's an All-State golfer and a junior at Prairie High School. His brother is dead of an opioid overdose and he's a great student. Wait...what? Yeah. You read that right.

Ian's brother, Seth, was found dead in a Waterloo hotel room having overdosed. It happened to be on the same day Ian was playing District golf within two miles of where his brother died. It would have been easy to crawl into a hole and fade away, but that's not what Ian did.

He started a fundraising effort through the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA.com) which has raised over $13,000! You can donate by clicking on the link, and contribute to the awareness necessary to fight the scourge of opioid addiction and overdose.

Ian, in recognition of being one of the top national fundraisers, will play golf with Rickie Fowler. It's a fine reward for his hard work, but I'll bet that he'd trade a hundred such rounds to have his brother back.

Keep up the good work, Ian!
