It's one of those things that would never happen, but then it did. An aunt was babysitting her nephew and had been shopping. She comes back to the car with the stroller and opens the door to place her items in the car. Problem is, she forgot to put the stroller's brakes on. And then it happened...
A gust of wind blows the stroller, baby inside, toward a highway with vehicles clipping along at 50+ mph! The aunt starts to run after the stroller and then she trips and falls! Clearly, this child will perish as the stroller rolls onto the road.
And then, all of a sudden, out of nowhere!
Ron Nessman had been homeless. Suffering from depression, he had moved in with his sister and wanted to start over again. He had just finished an interview for a dishwashing position at Applebee's. As he was leaving the restaurant, he saw a stroller rolling toward the highway. According to the story at InspireMore.com,
Ron’s sister, Donna Gunderson, was waiting at a nearby café when she heard the woman’s screams for help. She says her “heart dropped” when she saw the stroller heading straight for traffic. When she saw her brother come to the baby’s rescue, she was incredibly relieved.
Ron says he’s glad he was there at the perfect time, admitting he “wouldn’t want to see the end result” if he hadn’t been there. The baby was unharmed, and though the aunt was shaken up and suffered injuries to her knees, she’ll be okay.
And if the story couldn't end on a happy note there. Applebee's, hearing of what happened, offered the job to Ron, who accepted. Here's hoping Ron can get and keep it together, and blessings for his sister taking him in. Here's hoping the aunt can put this behind her and her nephew can celebrate life well!
