It's called a Derecho, it's a rare phenomena the likes of which have no been seen in a long time around here, if ever and it was terribly destructive:

It held together for over 700 miles, doing damage for over 14 hours from South Dakota through Iowa and clear out to Ohio:

Perhaps up to 10 million acres of crops ruined and millions of dollars of property:

In some areas, it's going to be awhile before power is restored as this is a common sight:

Roadways that are somewhat passable are still just littered with debree:
