It's hard to believe it's been 22 years, but for those of us old enough to remember, we will never forget exactly where we were and what we were doing when we realized America was under attack.
Since that terrible day so many things have changed in our country.
But the quintessential part of being American has not. We still raise men and women willing to run into a burning building knowing they may never come out. We still have hundreds of thousands of Americans who stand in line to give blood in the aftermath of a tragedy or an act of evil. We would still have an army of people willing to volunteer to help rescue those who were buried beneath a building and even though they may be fewer in number, we do still have men and women prepared to put on the cloth of our nation to defend it should it be attacked again.
Sadly we still also have lions lead by donkeys.
The question is however, is America safer today than it was 22 years ago today?
