Will anything at all change after the Uvalde mass shooting?

Four Senators - two from each party - met in a Zoom conversation yesterday to see what common ground there might be for gun control measures.

Leading the Republican is Sen, John Cornyn of Texas, with Sen. Chris Murphy from Connecticut leading the Democrats.

They know they can't get weapons banned, so I'm assuming they were focussing on background checks, mental health and school security.

Former Education Secretary under Reagan, William J. Bennett also has a warning.

"There was no influence there, no positive influence, no guiding influence — and no one to say, ‘Stop! What the hell are you doing?’" he said in an interview with Fox Digital.

Bennett is a former secretary of education in the Reagan administration, was the nation's first drug czar under President George H.W. Bush, and is a standout voice on cultural, political and educational issues.

He also said that Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan of New York, years ago, had opined that "the biggest change he saw while serving in the Senate for 36 years was — all over Europe and Western Europe and North America — the decline of the family," said Bennett. "That was the most consequential decline."

"He also said," added Bennett, "that one thing is true in all civilizations: Boys need men as fathers. You can’t raise boys without men."

What do you think? Will anything at all change after the Uvalde mass shooting?
