Waterloo holds final vote to ban 'criminal past' box on job applications...

Waterloo will hold its third and final vote today to 'ban the box'! This ordinance if passed, will prevent local businesses from asking about someone's criminal past on job applications.

This vote was supposed to take place four weeks ago, but was put off at the last moment. It will take place at 5.30 today.

There is concern that such an ordinance will stop businesses from moving to the city.

Ban the Box is a national movement aimed at removing the check box that asks if applicants have a criminal record from hiring applications.
