Jeff's Top 10 Favorite Christmas Songs

As I said on the show today, I've begun to insert some Christmas music into my regular office playlist featuring 80s hair metal and country songs about partying. There's so many favorites to hear, I've got to start now! Here's my top 10:

  1. I'll Be Home For Christmas (If Only In My Dreams - Frank Sinatra

There's a favorite special reason this song is number one. When I was growing up, I spent many Christmases among my numerous Sicilian relatives at the home of my Aunt Louise in St. Louis. These celebrations were loud and boisterous. Over the years, as the first generation of immigrants in my family died, the number of attendees seemed to shrink on a yearly basis. Until the celebration was moved to my Grandma's house...a smaller place with fewer attendees. Until finally...those celebrations ended as an older generation passed away and a newer generation moved away. Originally writeen for WWII troops stationed overseas, this song now has come to mean that I can always return to those wonderful Christmases of the past...if only in my dreams.

The rest of the list:

Santa Claus Is Back In Town - Elvis

Boogie Woogie Santa Claus - Brian Setzer

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas - Johnny Mathis

The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas To You) - Nat King Cole

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - James Taylor

A Holly, Jolly Christmas - Burl Ives

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! - Dean Martin

Frosty The Snowman - Ella Fitzgerald

Mistletoe And Holly - Frank Sinatra

Sorry, Mariah!
