Cedar Rapids Schools To Start Classes On September 21st

The Cedar Rapids School District will officially start the school year on September 21st.

The start of school was delayed earlier this month when the derecho blew through and damaged every building in the district.

KCRG-TV 9 reports school buildings will also not be used until they are considered 75 percent safe. Elementary students will either attend classes in-person or online, depending on what their families chose as part of the Return to Learn plan options.

Middle and high school students, with the exception of Metro High School, will be in online-only classes until further notice after repairs are completed at individual schools.
