Former CRPD Chief Dies

The Cedar Rapids Police say former Chief Raymond Baker died Saturday. He was 88. Baker was with the police department from 1955 to 1985, serving as chief from 1979 to 1985. Prior to that, he served in the U-S Army in Germany.

A visitation for Baker will be this Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Instead of flowers, Baker wanted memorials to go to the Izaak Walton League or the Cedar Valley Humane Society.
