Iran announced a temporary halt to its attacks on Israel, contingent upon the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) ceasing their operations in Lebanon. This announcement follows a series of exchanges between Iran and Israel that have threatened the fragile ceasefire brokered between the United States and Iran.

The conflict, which has been ongoing for over 100 days, saw a recent escalation with Iran and Israel trading missile strikes. President Donald Trump has urged both nations to "immediately stop shooting," highlighting the precarious nature of the ceasefire. The situation remains tense as both sides have engaged in retaliatory strikes, with Iran targeting Israeli sites in response to attacks on Lebanon.

Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen have also become involved, pledging to disrupt Israeli ocean traffic through the Red Sea and reportedly firing projectiles at Israel. This move has been praised by the Palestinian group Hamas, which views it as a response to "Israeli crimes against Lebanon," as reported by NPR.

The ongoing hostilities have significant implications for the region and beyond, with the potential to impact global oil prices and trade routes. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical passage for the world's oil supply, remains a focal point in the conflict. The tensions have already driven up energy prices worldwide.

As diplomatic efforts continue, regional powers such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey are urging the U.S. to pressure Israel to restrain its military actions. Meanwhile, Iran insists on a comprehensive ceasefire that includes all fronts, including Lebanon and Gaza.
