(Iowa City, IA) -- The Iowa City School District is defending closed door sessions over superintendent Matt Degner.

The Board says state law allows for closed sessions to discuss personnel issues.

Degner has come under fire recently over the District's finances. Recent emails from the former CFO questioned his successor over missing financial reports.

Several residents called for Degner's resignation at a meeting last week.
