Rare White Fawn Spotted At Southern Iowa College Campus

(Ottumwa, IA) -- A rare white fawn has been spotted on a community college campus in southern Iowa.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the fawn was found sleeping on the Indian Hills Community College campus in Ottumwa.

DNR officials say sightings like this are extremely rare, with less than 1 percent of Iowa’s deer population being entirely white.

The public is being asked to give the fawn and its mother plenty of space, as too much human disturbance could scare the doe and prevent her from returning to care for the fawn.
