(Atkins, IA) -- An official with a Benton County city next door to where a major new power plant is being proposed said he first heard about the plans when he saw a map of the site.
Scott Flory, the City Administrator for Atkins, says his first reaction when he saw that Alliant Energy's planned Morgan Valley energy plant would be in his city's fire district was surprise.
Flory tells Iowa's News Now that Atkins had never been contacted by Alliant, and that information on their plans is still hard to come by.
Several residents had questions about the plant's impact at an informational meeting in Linn County last month.
