(Iowa) -- Iowa's graduation rate is up above pre-pandemic levels.
Data from the Iowa Department of Education show Iowa's 2025 graduation rate rose half a percentage point to 88.8%, the highest level in five years and the first time Iowa's graduation rate exceeded pre-pandemic levels since 2020. The state saw graduation rates rise for both male and female students and overall dropout rates decline.
Student groups that saw rising graduation rates include:
- A 1.6% increase among students with disabilities
- A 1% increase among students with low-income backgrounds
- A 4.9% increase among students experiencing homelessness
- A 2.5% increase among African American students
