(Council Bluffs, IA) -- Council Bluffs Police investigate a fatal, single-vehicle crash on Interstate 29.
Early Thursday afternoon, the Bluffs Police and Fire Departments were called to the 45 mm of I-29 on a report of a vehicle in Pony Creek.
The vehicle was found by the Iowa Department of Transportation in the creek, between the North and Southbound bridges.
Accident Investigators say Initial information indicates the vehicle was northbound on I-29, crossed into the southbound lanes, hit a bridge abutment, and ended up in the creek below.
Police say the sole occupant of the vehicle, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The name of the person is being withheld pending notification of family members.
