(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowa's State Auditor says his office needs access to a 2023 Davenport City Council meeting with the city attorney to determine whether Council broke the law.
The state and the city of Davenport are arguing before the Iowa Supreme Court over a meeting that led to a $2-million settlement with three former city employees that Council didn't disclose until after the 2023 election.
The city says allowing state Auditor Rob Sand access to the meeting would create an exemption to client-attorney privilege law.
A decision is expected later this year.
