(Iowa City, IA) -- Plans are moving forward for new affordable housing in Iowa City.
The city has purchased 1.8 acres of land on North Summit Street for 750‑thousand dollars, with the goal of building more than 30 multi‑family units. City officials say the purchase was funded through federal COVID‑19 relief dollars from the American Rescue Plan Act, along with a federal housing grant.
Construction is expected to begin next spring, with the development projected to open in the fall of 2028.
