(Iowa) -- March is Iowa History Month, and the State Historical Society of Iowa has launched an interactive way for Iowans to learn about influential people in the state's early history and on their favorites through a bracket-style tournament.
32 influential Iowans from the state's history prior to 1920 have been randomly placed into two brackets for Iowa History March Madness. Iowans are able to click on each one, learn about that person and their accomplishments in Iowa's history, and vote for their favorites to advance. Iowans can fill out their brackets and vote throughout the month for their favorite Iowans on the list to advance.
Activities for elementary and secondary education classrooms are available for Iowa teachers who would like to get their classes involved in the tournament. More information, including how to cast your vote, is available on the State Historical Society of Iowa website.
