(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A trial for three Cedar Rapids siblings charged with the murder of their brother just over a year ago got underway Thursday.

Christian, Pierre, and Azane Baseme face involuntary manslaughter charges in the death of their 18 year-old brother Ezekiel.

In opening statements, prosecutors argue the brothers tied Ezekiel to a mattress while he had a schizophrenic episode and left him for days without medical assistance.

Defense attorney's say Ezekiel was becoming violent, refusing food and water, and was restrained to ensure everyone's safety.
