(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- The family of a murder victim from Cedar Rapids is asking a judge to reject a plea agreement for his killer.

Darnell Bays was sentenced Friday to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the death of 29 year-old Michael Hodges Jr.

He was found with several gunshot wounds in his car six years ago.

Hodge's family disagrees with prosecutors reducing the charges against Bays from first-degree murder to manslaughter in exchange for his plea.
