(Marion, IA) -- The name of the 18-year-old shot and killed by Marion police after charging at them with a machete has been released.

Police in Marion, just north of Cedar Rapids, say they spoke with Saber Bernard for about three minutes before he pulled out a machete and began advancing toward officers.

Authorities say they ordered Bernard to stop and deployed a Taser, but he continued moving toward them. One officer then fired, striking Bernard.

He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
