(Des Moines, IA) -- A bill moving through the Iowa House would remove student immunization requirements.

If passed, House File 2171 would eliminate the requirement for students to be vaccinated before attending school against diseases like measles, polio, and rubella.

Iowa’s vaccination rate has been falling in recent years and now stands at about 92%.

Current Iowa law allows school vaccination exemptions for religious and medical reasons.
