(Le Mars, IA) -- A Le Mars man is facing charges after officers found three children and more than 100 dogs living in unsafe conditions.

Police say they first got the report back in September and removed the kids and animals from the home.

On Tuesday, officers arrested 53-year-old Rick Reifenrath during a traffic stop. He’s now charged with several counts of child endangerment and 19 counts of animal neglect.

The kids are now in the care of Iowa Health and Human Services, and the Animal Rescue League of Iowa is caring for the 111 dogs.
