Counterfeit Car Seats Could Put Child At Risk In Crash

(Iowa City, IA ) -- A warning for parents and caregivers. Counterfeit car seats are popping up online. Experts at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital say fake car seats look like trusted brands, but they don’t meet federal safety standards. The seats are missing essential safety features, testing and engineering required to protect a child in a crash. Look for a certification label, and spelling mistakes

They're sold cheap on Amazon, Temu, and TikTok Shop. Safety specialists urge families to buy car seats only from reputable retailers and watch for misleading labels or vague product descriptions.
