Iowa State Hosts "Planter University" For Farmers

Farmers Plant Corn As Ethanol Demand Keeps Prices High

(Ames, IA) -- Iowa farmers are invited to hone their skills at Planter University.

Iowa State University is hosting five workshops across the state to educate farmers about how to get the most out of their planters.

The focus will be on optimizing settings for seeds and fields, as well as wear and tear calibration.

Prior attendees say the information was worth more than $10 per acre to their farming operations.

Online registration is required for the workshops, which opens January 5, 2026. The schedule is below.

  • Feb. 2 – Alliant Energy Ag Innovation Lab, 3800 University Boulevard, Ames
  • Feb. 3 – Carroll County Conservation Center, 22676 Swan Lake Trail Drive, Carroll
  • Feb. 4 – Northern Research and Demonstration Farm, Kanawha
  • Feb. 5 – Heartland Acres Agribition Center, Independence
  • Feb. 6 – Prime Ag, 571 180th St., Otley

Registration is $100 for each location and closes seven days before each workshop.
