(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- An appeals court is upholding the sentence of a man from Cedar Rapids who fatally stabbed a woman after calling her a racial slur.
Thirty-nine year-old Shane Teslik is serving a ten-year prison term after being convicted of voluntary manslaughter.
Last year, a jury found Teslik guilty of killing Devonna Walker nearly three years ago after she lunged at him when he used the racial slur.
Witnesses testified that the two lived on the same floor of an apartment building and had a history of charged confrontations.
