(Johnson County, IA) -- Johnson County residents will elect supervisors by district next November for the first time.

A map carving Johnson County into five districts is on its way to the County Board of Supervisors.

A new state law requires the three counties with regent universities to elect supervisors by district rather than at large starting next year.

The state says the plan will give rural residents a stronger voice at the ballot box.
