(Iowa) -- Food banks and pantries will receive temporary support if SNAP benefits are suspended on November 1 due to the government shutdown.

Governor Kim Reynolds announced that the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services is meeting with six regional food banks to prepare for increased demand and will use existing state funds to match cash donations up to $1 million.

The Iowa National Guard will also prepare for State Active Duty to distribute food across Iowa.
