(Des Moines, IA) -- Dry conditions continue to expand across the state as harvest season wraps up in Iowa.

State Climatologist Justin Glisan says while rain has been scarce, temperatures averaged near normal over the past six weeks.

The weekly U.S. Drought Monitor report shows 64% of the state is abnormally dry or in moderate drought.

Iowa Agriculture Secretary Mike Naig says there are no firm number on the harvest's progress as Department of Agriculture staff are furloughed during the federal government shutdown.
