Iowa ponds and lakes are being restocked with rainbow trout.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says it started by stocking lakes in Waukee and Johnston in the Des Moines metro on Monday, and will continue restocking trout across the state through mid-November.

Between 1,000 and 2,000 fish will be stocked in Iowa waters.

Anglers will need a valid fishing license to capture trout, with a daily limit of five trout.
