Omaha Man Catches State Record-Breaking Blue Catfish At 105 Pounds

(Omaha, NE) -- An Omaha man reeled in a record breaking blue catfish!

George Thompson landed a 5 feet long and 105 pound blue catfish. On October 12th, it took him 35 minutes to get the fish into his boat, and his 3-year-old first hooked it.

Thompson, a fishing guide, caught the whopper on the Missouri River just north of Council Bluffs. The Iowa DNR estimates the fish is 20-25 years old. After weighing it at an official scale, Thompson returned the fish to the river.
