(Iowa City, IA) -- The date for a hearing that could decide the fate of the man who fled the country to avoid attempted murder charges has been set.

A Johnson County judge has scheduled a disposition hearing in the bench trial of Ali Younes for December 5th.

Younes is accused of strangling and robbing a woman of her earrings on the University of Iowa campus three years ago and leaving her for dead.

His parents are on parole after serving less than a year of their five year sentences for helping him cut off his ankle monitor and flee to Jordan to avoid his first trial in 2023.
