(Des Moines, IA) -- A federal grand jury has indicted former Des Moines superintendent Ian Roberts. The indictment reads that Ian Roberts lied about his citizenship status, on his I-9 form when applying at the Des Moines Public School District. The 54-year-old said he was a United States citizen, when he knew he was not.
The grand jury also indicted Roberts, who was born in Guyana, for illegally owning firearms.
Roberts was taken into custody last month by ICE. He later resigned as superintendent from Des Moines Public Schools.
