Report Says World Life Expectancy Has Returned To Pre-Pandemic Levels

New research shows life expectancy in the world has returned to pre-pandemic levels. Data published in the journal Lancet shows in 2023 life expectancy was 76.3 years for women and 71.5 years for men.

In, Iowa the numbers are a bit better at 78.5 years.

COVID was the leading cause of death in the US in 2021 but fell to 20th in 2023. The lowest life expectancy is in Afghanistan at 54.4 years. The place on earth where you can expect to live the longest? Monaco at 89.8 years. Experts attribute that to wealth, excellent healthcare and a Mediterranean lifestyle.
