(Iowa) -- The Iowa housing market saw renewed activity in September.
According to Iowa REALTORS, the state saw new listings of single-family homes in September jump by 2.9% to 4,176 homes compared to August's 3,897 and by 7.2% compared to September of last year. Median sales prices in September 2025 were down 2.8% compared to the previous month to an average median price of $245,000. Homes spent an average of 20 days on the market in September, an increase of one day from August.
Regionally, areas across the state inventory gains in September. The Des Moines area saw a slight increase in closed sales and a 5.2% price gain. In the Quad Cities area, closed sales remained largely unchanged in September. In the southwestern part of Iowa, markets saw an increase in median sales prices but a slight drop in overall sales compared to September of last year.
