UNI Returns Meskwaki Cultural Artifacts

(Cedar Falls, IA) -- The University of Northern Iowa has returned several culturally significant artifacts to the Meskwaki Nation after the items spent decades in the university's museum.

The collection, which includes a medicine bag, a headdress, and ceremonial bowls, was originally acquired in the 1980s.

U-N-I President Mark Nook called the return a reflection of the university's commitment to partnership, while a Meskwaki Nation representative said the items are now preserved in their rightful home.
