IA National Guard Troops Face Missed Paychecks as Shutdown Continues

(Des Moines, IA) -- The Iowa National Guard is warning that thousands of its members will miss their October 15th paycheck if the government shutdown continues.

A Guard spokesperson says about one-thousand full-time employees are working without pay, and another one-thousand-800 deployed troops are also affected.

In addition, more than five-hundred civilian Guard employees have been furloughed.

The Guard says it has emergency financial aid available for service members who need it.
