Former Des Moines School Super Faces Four Federal Firearms Charges

(Des Moines, IA) -- The former Des Moines Public Schools Superintendent is being held on four federal firearms charges.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for Southern Iowa says 54-year old Ian Roberts, a citizen of Guyana was illegally or unlawfully in the United States and in possession of guns.

Investigators say he had a loaded gun under a chair cushion in the living room, a loaded rifle in the closet, and a shotgun behind the master bed headboard, plus a loaded handgun in his car.

The criminal complaint says Roberts' Texas immigration attorney quit his case for non-payment.

Roberts remains in federal custody.
