(Iowa) -- A major restaurant chain is suing the owner of multiple Iowa locations for operating under their company name after his franchise agreements were cancelled.

Miami-based Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen says the Illinois-based owner of five Popeye's locations violated his franchise agreement by not operating the restaurants according to company standards.

The chicken chain is demanding he stop operating the stores as Popeye's and compensate them for damages.

They also want him barred from operating any chicken restaurant within ten miles of a Popeye's for two years.

The Popeye's on Merle Hay Road in Des Moines, East Avenue in Cedar Rapids, and locations in Coralville, Dubuque and Waterloo are named in the lawsuit.
