(Marion County, IA) -- The Iowa Attorney General's Office concludes a deadly officer-involved shooting in Marion County last month was legally justified.
A report from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation finds that Marion County dispatch received a call around 11:15pm on August 21st from a woman saying her husband had crashed his car into her house in violation of a no contact order and was trying to get inside. When officers from the Knoxville Police Department arrived, they found the suspect had gotten inside the house and was strangling the victim after beating down the bedroom door. After the suspect refused officers' calls to release the woman, an officer opened fire. The suspect later died of his injuries.
