University Of Iowa Loses Federal Funding For Seven Research Projects

(Iowa City, IA) -- The University of Iowa has lost federal funding for seven major research projects, including studies on cancer, Alzheimer's disease, and cochlear implants.

The grant terminations came from the National Institutes of Health, due to what university officials call, changing funding priorities. A program aimed at helping undergraduates from underrepresented groups pursue research careers also had its funding cut.

One of the canceled projects had been funded since 2013.
