(Midwest) -- The August Mid-America Business Conditions Index shows some positive trends and some negative trends for the Midwest economy.
The survey covered nine Midwest states from Minnesota to Arkansas and found overall growth in the month of August, with the regional economy being slightly above growth neutral, an increase compared to July. However, supply managers are reporting overall job losses for the fifth month in a row. Prices are trending up overall, with roughly four out of five businesses reporting price increases.
The U.S. International Trade Administration shows exports from the regional economy were down 5.7% for the first half of 2025 compared to the same time frame last year.
