Former Hawkeyes Basketball Coach George Raveling Dies

A former University of Iowa Men's Basketball Coach has died.

On "X," his family says George Raveling has passed away from cancer at the age of 88.

The hall of famer coached the Hawkeyes from 1983 to 1986, leading Iowa to two NCAA Tournaments.

The Washington D.C. native also coached in the college ranks at Washington State and The University of Southern California.

During his time in Iowa City, Raveling was an assistant coach on a U.S. team that won Olympic gold in Los Angeles, 1984.

He played college basketball at Villanova University.
