(Coralville, IA) -- The City of Coralville is moving ahead with plans for a new recreation center.
The new facility will have three gymnasiums, three pools, and an elevated track.
The city says the cost is between $50 and $55-million dollars which will be paid for through a mix of bonds, and revenue from the proposed local-option sales tax on the November ballot.
Iowa City Schools, which cover one-third of the existing rec center's operating costs to cover its use, says they'll put up $14-million towards the project.
The proposed opening date is May 2028.
