Ford Motor Company has announced a recall of over 355,000 trucks due to a defect in the instrument panel cluster, which may prevent the display of critical safety information. The recall affects 278,000 2025 F-150 pickups and 77,000 full-size 2025 and 2026 models, including the F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, and F-550 SD, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The issue arises from a software glitch that can cause the dashboard display to remain blank at startup, leaving drivers without access to essential information like speed and warning lights. This defect increases the risk of accidents, as drivers may be unaware of vital vehicle conditions. Ford has not reported any crashes or injuries related to the defect.

The problem stems from a timing error in the instrument panel's memory system, which can trigger a memory protection fault. Ford plans to resolve the issue by updating the instrument panel software to disable the memory protection feature. This update will be available at Ford or Lincoln dealerships or through an over-the-air download at no cost to owners.

The recall is listed under NHTSA campaign number 25V540. Notification letters will be sent to affected owners beginning September 2, with the recall expected to be completed by September 5. Dealers were notified of the recall on August 25.

Owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 regarding recall number 25S88 for more information.
