Des Moines Public Library and Little Village Host Short Story Competition

(Iowa) -- The Des Moines Public Library is partnering with statewide magazine Little Village on a new short story contest.

The contest, called "This Time Next Year" is inviting writers to submit short stories about what might happen in the next year. Any Iowa resident age 18 or older can send in his or short story, which must be a new, self-contained story with a length of 2,000 words or less. The first place winner will receive a $200 prize and have his or her story published in the January edition of Little Village magazine.

The second place winner will receive a prize of $75, and both the second and third place winners will have their story published on the Des Moines Public Library's website. Submissions will be received from September 2nd through October 31st.
