(Des Moines, IA) -- With current insurance professionals reaching retirement age, Iowa’s colleges and universities are adding programs to fill the agent void close to home.

Coe College in Cedar Rapids is launching a risk-management concentration for its Business Administration major this fall.

In Ames, Iowa State is adding its own risk-management certificate.

University of Iowa’s risk-management and insurance program is in its third year, and is already the nation’s fifth-largest program.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates around 50% of the current insurance workforce is projected to retire by 2028.
