(Iowa City, IA) -- 74% of Johnson County residents surveyed say they'd support a bond to fund a new jail and sheriff's office.
The survey of nearly 4,000 residents was released yesterday at a public meeting where two proposals for a shared facility with Iowa City were unveiled.
Both would be located at a Riverside Drive site at a cost of around $105 million.
County leaders say the next step is getting Iowa City onboard with a goal of holding a bond vote in November of next year, and having the facility ready in 2030.
