(Des Moines, IA) -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture is directing $152 million toward 19 rural development projects across Iowa. The funding will support work in 20 counties, including water and wastewater system upgrades in 13 cities, street improvements, and loans to expand rural businesses.
The largest single award is a $37 million loan to Guthrie County Hospital, which will use the funds for renovations, expanded behavioral health services, and updated equipment. USDA Rural Development leaders say the investments are aimed at improving infrastructure, strengthening local economies, and encouraging private investment.
