(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- This morning’s groundbreaking ceremony for the new QTS Cedar Rapids Data Center has been canceled following a deadly shooting in New York City that left four people dead and one injured.

QTS, a portfolio company of Blackstone, announced the cancellation out of respect for the victims, their families, and colleagues. The shooting occurred Monday night at a Manhattan office tower that houses both Blackstone and the NFL.

“This decision was made in response to the tragic event in New York on Monday, July 28. We care deeply about the communities where we live and work together, and our hearts and prayers are with those impacted,” the company said in a press release.

There is no word yet on whether the ceremony will be rescheduled.
